Today is the 24th of July…a great big holiday in Utah. Big parade, big fireworks, fun, sun, swimming, barbecues, etc. You know the usual!

In honor of our great big holiday…here it is…The Beach Boys singing “Salt Lake City”.

So, we’re back from San Diego.

Soooooo much fun! We read in “People” magazine that one of the three best beaches in the country was in San Diego. So we booked it on over the Coronado Bridge to the beach and guess what…it was a pretty, darn good beach. The water and sand did glisten a gold just list the magazine said it would.

The sand was great to dig in and many people were playing in the sand.

The waves were not too big - no surfers to worry about - but just enough wave to have fun and swim in.

Yep, people magazine did good. We loved the beach on Coronado Island!!!

P.S. My daughter was writing about our vacation and she spelled San Diego - Sandy Ago. So cute that I just can’t stand it!!!

I don’t know what day of the week it is or what day of the month it is - I’m pretty sure it is July, but other than that I’m at a total loss.

Yes, it is a great summer. I am loving every minute of it.

We had some news! No, I am not pregnant!

No, I am not going to even talk about the snow yesterday morning. I said some exciting news!

My cute daughter tried out for the Miss Teen pageant in our city and guess what…she won! Whew-hew! Yes-siree, Bob! She won!

This is my daughter with her grandmother. You can see that the looks come from that side of the family - my husbands side!

I know, I know, I need to learn photoshop!

Grandma, Grandpa, brother and sister!

My daughter has some great friends! They are great kids that have a lot of fun and they support each other!

These are two cousins. The night of the pageant, Heather was Tavia’s handler. She helped her backstage with, you know the usual stuff, make up, clothing changes, hair, confidence, how not to be nervous and most importantly - how to have a little sass!

Thanks Heather!

Thanks to everyone that supported my daughter - now if she can just get the “elbow, elbow, wrist, wrist” wave down for the parades….

These absolutely darling headbands are the cutest things you ever did see, and very easy to make!!! Just use you imaginations kid, use your imagination!

I found these headbands from our local T.V. station. They are so cute so I had to post the tutorial!

Materials Needed for headband:

1/8 yard of fabric- Will make two headbands
5×5 inch fabric squares to make flower
Thread
Sewing machine

Click here to download headband pattern.

Fold your fabric in half pin the headband pattern on fabric and cut out

Stitch a straight stitch an 1/8 of inch from the edge all around the headband

Take the 5×5 fabric squares and fold to create flower

Stitch the flower into the headband in a diamond pattern.

Cut leaves in a coordinating fabric and stitch

Hmmmmm, my daughter is begging me to take her to a talent audition. I am sure there will be 1,000,000,000,000,000 other people there hoping to be discovered.

She is stretching and trying to get her splits back (she is sure that will help her stand out from the crowd). She is also practicing her back flip.

They recommended coming in “upscale casual” attire - no flip flops. What in the world is “upscale attire?”

And…Universal Packing List

So, I went on the web site to print up a universal packing list for a trip we are taking. You have to include temperature and dates of trip. Hmmmmm do you think criminals frequent that site to find out who is going to be out of town and when? I hope not!

Two weeks later: We are back from our week long trip to Cancun, Mexico!!! We were safe and our home was safe. The packing list really helped out on the packing! The list included a lot of little things that are commonly forgotten! I will use the universal packing list again! Thank you Mats! Great idea!

Well, if you are in the mood for some Valentine box ideas…have I got a post for you!

This is a great Ipod box. Imagine that, rounded corners and everything! Amazing details!

This volcano is spectacular! Actual lava flows, imagine that!

A cute candy castle is always wonderful for Valentine’s day!

Argh, matey! This treasure chest is for the discerning pirate in your life.

This suitcase is a brand new case that has been weathered and decorated to look worn (not worn out), but worn with that beautiful patina. I thought it was really an antique until they taught me how to make it. I may know how to make it, but I am not talented enough to actually replicate the box - but you may be. They found the box and paper online.

And for the lady of the house, a lovely purse.

From ancient Greece we have the Valle dei Templi. The creativity of the Valentine boxes is just amazing.

Valentine’s would not be complete with out the “Valentine Eater” box.

This little gal was just darling. Made out of piping (someone was wearing their creativity hat).

Who thought of the mini-fridge? Hmmm, do you think it really works?
